- Memorial Service for Etta LaBelle - September 4th at 2 pm - A memorial service remembering long-time Good Sam member Etta La Belle will take place on Saturday, September 4th at 2 pm at Good Samaritan.
- Youth Pool Party - Sunday, September 5th at 5pm - The Parr Family from Los Gatos UMC will be hosting a Pool Party, signaling the start of many great things to come. The race will begin at 5:00 pm with a good healthy amount of swimming, followed by good food, fellowship, games and at least 5 minutes of listening to me tell you all how awesome and dynamic our youth are, with the event promptly ending at 8:00 pm! (Note - Parents are strongly encouraged to attend as we are also treating this as our Parent Orientation.)
- Men's Breakfast - Sept 11th at 8 am - 911 - Who will YOU call?

- Disciple Bible Study - Disciple 1 Bible Study will be offered beginning in September and will run through May 2011. We will read through the entire Bible during that time. You will spend about 30 minutes a day reading and we will meet weekly for 2-2 ½ hours for discussion and a video to help us understand our reading. It’s a significant time commitment but it is worth it! Dave Paulson and Tom Schworetsky will be co-leading the weekly meetings.
- Reconciling Ministries Team meeting Sunday, September 12 in Room 22 from 11:30am to 12:30pm. We will discuss how we can gather resources to plan a forum about what it means to be a more inclusive church and what in means to be part of the Reconciling Ministries Network. The open meeting will be an offering to those who wish to understand more about this movement. We will also discuss the results of surveys shared over the past months. From the RMN Mission statement: "The Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) is a growing movement of United Methodist individuals, congregations, campus ministries, and other groups working for the full participation of all people in the United Methodist Church."
- Risk Taking Mission Team will meet September 26th in Room 22 at 11:30am - 12:30pm. Topic will be how our team will support small missional groups in the coming months.
- World Communion Celebration - October 3 - The worshipping communities of Good Sam will be joining for a multi-cultural celebration that day. In a combined worship celebration at 10:30 am, music and worship elements in English, Mandarin, and Korean will be offered by GSUMC and Good Samaritan Korean Methodist Church. This will be followed by a multi-cultural potluck lunch for all. Early planning is underway for this event. Contact Don Miesle or Mark Teagle for more information.
- Join the Chancel Choir as they begin their fall season. Rehearsals are every Thursday from 7:30 to 9:00 pm in the Sanctuary. All levels of experience are welcome. Contact a current choir member, Carolyn Lamcke or Mark Teagle for more information.
- Sunday School Offering -
During the new Sunday school year, we will be
discussing the meaning of giving to God. We will be collecting
an offering each week during Sunday school and the kids will
get to decide how they would like to use the money to help
others. This will be a regular part of our gathering time in the
Fellowship Hall during the first ten minutes of Sunday school.
We would like to encourage the kids to bring a small donation
each week – maybe just a quarter or a dollar – to help each
child feel as if they are a part of the mission to help others.
- Are You a “Crafty” Person? Would you be willing to occasionally help Sunday
school by preparing materials for craft projects? The teacher’s
workbook details the items needed for each craft and the
step-by-step instructions. If you would like to help, contact
Matt Murphy or Barbara Shev or leave a note in the Sunday
school mailbox.
- Reconciling Congregation Survey - GOOD SAM your ideas and opinions!! As part of Good Sam’s consideration of becoming a Reconciling Congregation, the Reconciling Ministries group led by Dollie Forney has posted a survey seeking to gain more information on feelings and opinions of Good Sam people in this area.

Youth Worship each Sunday during Sunday School hour; Youth Choir and Youth Band alternate weeks from 10:30-ish to 11:30-ish in the Chapel
